Think positive....

Hey guys! So it's that dreaded time of the year for many, the return to education for a new year; whether it may be secondary school, college or university I want to introduce you to someone to push you through this upcoming year!

So in life people have many different inspirations for a variety of reasons, but someone who has shown me what a courageous and inspirational person they are is a close friend of mine called Jason Ngimbi.

We began secondary school together however it wasn't until we started our A-Levels & were placed in the same drama class that we formed such a close bond! Jason is just one of those people who will walk into a room & light it up just by being present. His personality is just so carefree & loving he truly is a beam of fresh light & positivity! I can't think of a time I have known him to be down or think negatively. It is important to surround yourself with people like Jason they will bring out the best in you.

So this past year which was year 13 for us which is a very important year for us sadly Jason was taken ill & placed in ICU for 16 hours & diagnosed with meningitis. Meningitis can potentially be fatal or cause severe brain damage as it is an infection surrounding the brain & spinal cord. Developing this illness affected his whole life as he was kept in hospital for two weeks before recovering for a further week at home putting his studies on hold at a pinnacle point of the year; however this didn't stop Jason's positivity or care free outlook on life! This situation put so much into perspective for me & made me realise how much you should appreciate the people around you & not take anyone for granted.

On results day of  2015 Jason was accepted into the university of his choice after a rocky year with plenty of follow up appointments & tests! After what he endured & was capable of achieving what is there to stop you? With the right influences around you it is amazing what you will allow you to inspire you, this next year I know I will be able to succeed just like Jason if I set my mind to it.

Here are my top 3 tips to start the new educational year in a positive way

1. Pace yourself only do what you can manage. Keep in mind everyone is different we all work at a different pace its what makes us unique.
2. Try not to compare yourself to others. As individuals we all excel in different ways we all have our favourite subject that differentiates from others take that in your stride to succeed.
3. Keep organised. Try to keep to a schedule being unorganised or letting too many things take over can have a negative impact on you as an individual.

So let me leave you with this final thought
"train your mind to see the positive in every situation".

Thanks for reading guys,
Maisie :)
