Cancer...
A word that holds so many different meanings to different people.
The feeling of triumph, defeat, sadness or even anger.
Any person reading this will sadly have been affected by cancer in some way - whether this be directly or through a friend or family member.

My life has been deeply affected by cancer numerous times. At the age of five I lost my granddad Joe to cancer, however I was to young to realise the severity of the situation and just what I had lost. When I was 11, I lost both my grandparents on my mums side within a few days of one another. My nan couldn't cope without my granddad such a beautiful but tragic situation, if that isn't true love I don't know what is. My granddad had passed from prostate cancer and my nan from pancreatic cancer, after both putting up such a brave fight.
I would like to give my mum some much needed praise, for putting her whole life on hold to care for her two terminally ill parents and keeping a family household going. The struggle you must've been faced with each day I cant imagine.
Last year my mum was diagnosed with skin cancer, the 'good' cancer, but is any cancer really the good cancer? The word is enough to make my skin crawl. Hearing this news was heart wrenching but luckily it is an easy type to treat and was cleared.
According to statistics from Macmillan cancer support, around 2.5 million people in the UK are fighting cancer right now. They have also predicted by the year 2020 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer and almost 4 in 10 will die from cancer related causes.
To help prevent these statistics I want to do my part in helping to find a cure, I will be doing a charity sky dive in April. To donate please go to
